Using SHAGUR without an account

You can browse and take quizzes without signing in. Quiz completions, scores, history, and streak information are stored in your browser so the anonymous experience can continue on that device. Clearing that browser storage may remove this local progress.

Signing in saves future verified quiz results to your account. Earlier anonymous history stays on this device, separate from verified account completions.

Google sign-in

Google sign-in is optional and is handled through Supabase Auth. When you sign in, SHAGUR can receive your Supabase user identifier and basic Google account information made available through authentication, such as your name and email address. SHAGUR uses this information to recognize the account, display the signed-in name, and associate synced progress with the correct user.

Quiz progress

For signed-in quizzes, the question and option IDs you select are sent to SHAGUR's completion service so the quiz can be validated and your score calculated. Those individual selections are not retained as separate answer records after grading.

Signed-in completion records may include the account user ID, activity and credited study dates, quiz version, learning-unit and track identifiers, score, question count, and completion time. This information powers quiz history, completed states, streaks, milestones, progress syncing, and aggregate admin reporting.

Site analytics

SHAGUR records first-party analytics for page views, quiz starts, quiz completions, and successful result-sharing actions. Analytics can include a random browser-local visitor ID, a session ID that rolls over after inactivity, a quiz-attempt ID, the page pathname, whether the visitor was authenticated, relevant quiz and learning-unit identifiers, score and question count for a completion, and the event time. A successful sharing action does not show SHAGUR who received or viewed a result.

The analytics table does not contain an account user ID, name, email address, fingerprint, user-agent string, referrer, or IP-based visitor identity. Hosting, authentication, and database providers may still process ordinary technical request information as part of operating their services.

Storage and retention

Anonymous quiz progress remains in browser storage until it is cleared or explicitly claimed locally where offered. Signing in does not turn anonymous history into verified account completions. Analytics visitor and session identifiers are generated and persisted in the browser, and copies are sent with analytics events and stored by SHAGUR. They are not account user IDs and are not linked to the learner's account identity. Signed-in completion history is retained to provide account progress and syncing. Raw analytics data is currently retained; SHAGUR does not currently run an automatic 90-day deletion process.

Signing out does not delete local progress, synced completion history, or the Google/Supabase account. A signed-in non-admin user can delete their SHAGUR account through the app. This removes the Supabase Auth account, synced account-linked completion history, and that account's local progress on the current browser. It does not delete the user's Google account, raw account-unlinked analytics, or unrelated anonymous progress stored in the browser.

Service providers

SHAGUR currently relies on Google for optional sign-in, Supabase for authentication and database services, and Vercel for application hosting. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.
